![]() I was lucky to be present when Josie Satariano sang the title role in Otello in 1958, and how his very first appearance on stage provoked a roar of applause that lasted a long time. Of course, I was too young to understand the full intricacies of the plots and the music, but the music always fascinated me, as did the voices, colour and spectacle. My parents loved opera and took us five siblings to many performances. When I was barely nine, I had the good fortune to see Oreste Kirkop there on stage in a production of La Bohème. ![]() ![]() ![]() I was brought up on live opera at the Radio City. Reading the excellent feature by my friend Abraham Borg, recalling the rise and fall of the Radio City Opera House (The Sunday Times, November 29) brought back wonderful warm memories of the many performances I attended there between 19. ![]()
